This week with … DRUVA
Druva aka Andrew has been spinning tunes in the clubs for a couple of years and loves so much to put on events we are joining him and Aluku Rebels next week to put one on in Les Toilettes. Read on to find out more.
Where are you from and how old are you?
I’m originally from Indonesia, my dad is Chinese Indonesian and my mom is Singaporean Dutch, so I am mixed ahaha. I’m 42 years young
How long have you been in Bali?
I’ve been living permanently in Bali since 2023
Single or hooked up?
Single.
How did you first get into electronic music? Like, was there a certain moment it all made sense?
Honestly, I got into electronic music in my 30s. I’ve always liked getting happy clubbing and enjoying the vibe, and that naturally made me curious about DJ-ing and the culture around it. Once I started learning, everything just clicked for me.

Who is your greatest influence in DJing or electronic music?
There are a lot of names that inspire me, but especially house music artists. I really love the groove, energy, and feeling that house music brings.
What do you think makes electronic music so good?
Electronic music is powerful because it’s universal. People from completely different backgrounds can feel connected through rhythm and energy without needing to speak the same language.
Do you produce music?
Currently more focused on DJing and building concepts/events, but definitely interested in moving deeper into production as part of the long-term journey.
How long have you been a DJ and how would you describe your music you make or play?
I started learning DJing during Covid, but I only started playing commercially in clubs last year. My sound is mostly influenced by house music with groovy, warm, and energetic vibes for the dancefloor.
What’s your favourite area in Bali to hang out (day-time)?
Probably Canggu and Uluwatu. I enjoy places with good energy, ocean views, and a slower daytime atmosphere. I also like Bedugul. I really like the nature and the cool atmosphere there. It’s peaceful and feels like a nice escape from the busy parts of Bali.
What’s your favourite place in Bali at night (where you don’t work)?
To be honest, I’m quite happy to cruise around in the car for a night drive and just listening to music.

What do you do in your spare time? Any other interests?
Outside of music, I also run a financial services company in Bali focused on OTC crypto. Aside from that, I enjoy learning, networking, working out, and exploring creative concepts and branding ideas.
Where are you a resident, or regular DJ?
Les Toilettes is probably the place where I play most regularly at the moment. I also play quite often at spots like The Shady Pig and Afterdark, alongside private events and selected venues around Bali.
The Beat and you guys are making a regular event at Les Toilettes starting next Wednesday. Tell me more about that.
The idea behind the event called Into The Wild is to create something that feels immersive, warm, playful, and community-driven rather than just another regular club night. Musically, the direction leans towards afro house, melodic grooves, organic rhythms, and sexy late-night energy, combined with jungle-inspired visuals and an animal print dress code to give the night its own identity and atmosphere. Our goal is to slowly build a consistent midweek gathering where people come not only for the music, but also for the vibe, the people, and the overall experience.
See you at Les Toilettes next Wednesday!
